The Environmental Prevention program helps communities assess their needs, as well as works with the community to design and deliver a community-based prevention initiative. The program spans through each of the Council on Alcoholism’s 5-county region, and works with other agencies and local governmental units, and communities to deliver the support needed in each.
There is a strong relationship with the coalitions located in the different counties and communities throughout the area. We currently work with 9 separate coalitions in our region. Coalition feedback and support in identifying and reaching their goals is an important part of the environmental program.
The environmental Prevention Specialist is also responsible for working with the various media throughout the region for the Council on Alcoholism and Addictions.
